DEFLOCCULANTS

Every ceramic industry has its own “body” composition articulated by raw materials and various clays. Due to low cost and tradition some industries use sodium silicate, sodium carbonate as deflocculants. The uses of alkaline substance are likely to induce change crystallography or chemical composition of the clays used in the ‘body’. The slip produced this way is rather sticky.

On the other hand, STPP/SHMP suffer reversion or degradation to orthophosphates through hydrolysis during grinding in ball mills. Orthophosphates are not active dispersants; they are anions that may actually favour flocculation’s or settling.

TiraCare polymers range are excellent organic dispersants and deflocculant for natural earth used to increase solid slip and reduce viscosity in clay and other dispersions. They are used as grinding aid, dispersing and deflocculating aid for Clays, Ceramics and Electro ceramics, Ferrites and Refractories.

Benefits & Applications

Dispersions made with TiraCare polymers have better viscosity and viscosity stability at higher specific gravities desired for longer period of time than those prepared by using only inorganic electrolytes. The use of TiraCare polymeric dispersant gives surety and consistency of slip being prepared and can counterbalance the disadvantages of inorganic deflocculants. The slip produced with TiraCare grades offer higher Green Strength. TiraCare polymers are used to overcome troublesome rheological problems from crowding factors influenced by particle size, shape and underarticulate attraction, which give rise to interparticle friction and formation of agglomerates. The use of TiraCare polymers increase MOR especially in ceramics formulation and eliminates formation of ‘Pinholes’ in the furnished articles, renders faster casting rates and increased life of mould.

TiraCare product range is recommended for use in the preparation of casting slips made from whiteware and refractory compositions, and of spray dried oxide and ferrite slips used in electronic ceramics. It is also used in glazes for rheological stability. TiraCare polymers produce slips with a wide casting range. Furthermore, the casting rate is not decreased to a marked degree, even though the slip is near the minimum viscosity point. They also produce slips that show little tendency to thicken on standing, or to become thixotropic. Ware cast from these slips is very plastic and easy to “scrap”.

Fields of applications include

  • Whiteware Bodies
  • Glaze Dispersion
  • Ceramic Compositions
  • Grinding Aid
  • Binder for Spray-Dried Bodies

BINDERS

Binders are substances that improve the mechanical strength of green ceramic bodies so they can pass through production steps, before firing, without breakage. There are a wide variety of binders used in traditional ceramics, including natural products, like cellulose or clays, and synthetic products, like polyacrylates or polyvinyl alcohol.

TiraCare polymers are fully preformulated liquid water based acrylic binders for tape casting ceramic powders, designed to act like solvent-based binders in terms of slurry processing, tape properties and tape processing into multilayered components. The binder concentrate contains all defoamers, plasticizers, and resins to produce tape. A family of modifiers is available to tailor properties such as flexibility, steel belt release, special defoamers or other additives for a particular application.

Benefits

  • Good cohesion and adhesion of the glaze layer to the substrate
  • Optimization of glaze viscosity and thixotropy
  • Smooth final surface of the glaze with minimal defects
  • Reduction in settling phenomena of the various glaze components
  • Variation in drying time depending on glaze components and processing conditions

GRINDING AIDS

Grinding aids have been traditionally used to improve the efficiency of the cement maturation process which is considered as one of the most energy consuming processes in cement production (60 - 70% of the total electricity consumed in the plant). They are usually added at the entrance of the mill together with the feed.

The main function of a grinding aid is to partially neutralize the charges present on the surface of ore particles which are developed during milling, reducing the surface free energy of the material being grounded. Here, TiraCare series molecules are adsorbed over the surface of the ore particles by weak electrostatic forces, favoring the repulsion and/or a steric hindrance between particles, avoiding their agglomeration, and thus improving grinding efficiency. TiraCare series are highly concentrated grinding aid formulated with selected raw materials to improve cement quality (early and/or ultimate strengths, flow) and to aid cement grinding, and accordingly increasing mill production.

ADVANTAGES

  • Reduced energy consumption.
  • Reduced carbon emission to the atmosphere.
  • Higher mill throughput, satisfying market demand during peak periods.
  • Fewer plant stoppages.
  • Decreased pack set.
  • Increased efficiency of grinding media and separators. More efficient material handling due to improved flowability of cement.
  • Increased compressive and flexural strengths.

ADMIXTURES

Concrete admixture is one of the main production lines. From the first-generation lignosulfonate, the second-generation Naphthalene based series admixtures, to the third generation polycarboxylate superplasticizer types, they are all available. To meet the needs of different project requirements, working condition and environments, we also produce admixtures for the purposes of set accelerators, set retarders, Air-Entraining Admixtures, pumping aid agents, anti-freezing products, etc.
